"Dark Skies" concerns an ordinary, suburban family targeted by these silent invaders. Lacy (Keri Russell) and Daniel Barrett (Josh Hamilton) and their two sons, 13-year-old Jesse (Dakota Goya)and 6-year-old Sammy (Kadan Rockett) find themselves tangling with supernatural forces that they cannot truly understand. Lacy is the first in the family to investigate the matter after three flocks of birds strike their house in kamikaze attacks and litter the yard with their corpses. Meantime, the space creatures appear where and when they want to without any difficulty. Mind you, "Dark Skies" is bit reminiscent of "Falling Skies," except that these aliens don't have large battleships to do their bidding. Furthermore, they don't attach harasses to their prey. They implant something behind Daniel's ear that he keeps scratching because he insists it is a rash. Eventually, they learn the reality of the opponents that they are facing and take steps to defend themselves. If things were not quite normal before these attacks, they grow progressively worse afterward. When we meet the Barretts, Daniel is looking for a new job and Lacy isn't the best real estate saleslady.
