Italy 1948. The 10-year-old Rocco grew up in a mountain village in Calabria, his father Salvatore one day decides to look for a better future for his family. Under the influence of propaganda, he moved to Belgium, to make money in the coal mines there a lot of money in a short time and then to his homeland to return.
