The Courtship of Eddie's Father: Lynn Bardman is the latest of Tom's girlfriends. He is thinking about asking her to marry him. Although he doesn't come right out and say it to Tom, Eddie doesn't really like her. Eddie treats her with a slight coolness, which some could construe as just a kid acting like a kid. On a day that Eddie comes down with the flu, so does Mrs. Livingston, and thus she can't come to take care of Eddie while Tom is off at work. So Tom calls Lynn to watch Eddie for the day, during which she encounters one domestic disaster after another. Eddie finally warms up to her and comforts her, but conversely the day shows Lynn that she isn't ready to be a mother, which is what Eddie really needs.
